Differences Between 2019 Honda Ridgeline & 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Serving Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, and Florence, KY

As mid-size pickup trucks, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline and 2019 Chevrolet Colorado are engineered for all-around utility. Both models have similar capabilities, but the Ridgeline is more efficient and versatile off the road. Powered by the Honda Sensing technology, the Ridgeline's active safety features have class-leading status.

Performance

Rated at 280 horsepower, a V6 engine block is standard under the hood of the 2019 Honda Ridgeline. This 3.5 L SOHC powertrain delivers 262 pound-feet of peak torque at 4,700 RPM. Combustion is managed by the i-VTEC valvetrain that's tuned for efficiency and power at low tachometer levels. Standard in the 2019 Chevy Colorado, a 2.5 L engine produces only 200 hp and 191 lb-ft. Variable valve timing is integrated into the valvetrain of this four-cylinder engine. However, the VVT technology doesn't match the Ridgeline's Eco Assist System. Additionally, the Variable Cylinder Management conserves fuel by using only three cylinders during a full combustion cycle. This Honda pickup truck has other innovative mechanical features, such as the Active Control Engine Mount. A direct ignition system with an immobilizing function adds extra levels of security under the hood.

Handling

The 2019 Ridgeline rolls on an all-wheel drive that has the all-new Intelligent Variable Torque Management technology. By monitoring the road conditions, the i-VTM4 sends the ideal amount of torque to the axles. The Intelligent Traction Management lets you select an optimum mode for better handling on specific terrains. For example, the Snow Mode significantly increases traction on a road that's coated with ice or snow. Off-road handling is also enhanced by a mode that's designed for sand and mud. The Hill Start Assist helps the Ridgeline climb a steep gradient on or off the road. When equipped with the Autotrac transfer case, the 2019 Chevy Colorado gets good traction on rough landscapes. Front and rear differentials with custom modes also boost off-road performance. However, the Colorado doesn't have any technology to match the i-VTM4 system. Both mid-size pickup trucks are equipped with a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

Safety

The 2019 Ridgeline's Collision Mitigation Braking is more advanced than the 2019 Colorado's Forward Collision Alert. This Honda has the Road Departure Mitigation to prevent dangerous changes in lanes in heavy traffic. The Lane Keeping Assist helps you maneuver the vehicle into the center of a lane. Before this driving aide comes on, you'll receive feedback from the Lane Departure Alert. Working in tandem with the Cross Traffic Monitor, the Blind Spot Information System is on the lookout for side collisions. This premium Honda pickup truck also has a multi-angle camera near the rear bumper. You can align the rear wheels of the vehicle with the virtual guidelines that appear on the infotainment monitor. The 2019 Chevy Colorado's active safety design isn't quite on the same level as the Honda Sensing technology.
