The Accord has historically been one of Honda's most popular cars. You wouldn't think that the brand would feel the need to change much, if anything at all, about its fan-favorite sedan. But nevertheless, the 2019 Accord hits the market with a variety of enticing improvements. This year, the Accord has several different engine options. Depending on the trim level you choose, your Accord can come with either an automatic or a manual transmission. There are more standard safety amenities on the latest Accord, which is impressive considering it was already one of the safest cars on the market. With all that it offers, it probably comes as no surprise that the Accord tops the charts for #1 mid-size sedan.

Performance
Depending on the trim level, you can look forward to a variety of engine options. Standard on the base model is a 1.5L, four-cylinder engine that produces up to 192 HP. You can get the same engine on the next three trim levels, but you can also upgrade to a more powerful 2.0L, four-cylinder engine that produces up to 252 HP instead. The top level trim, called the Touring, comes standard with a 2.0L turbocharged engine. All engines have 16 valves and direct fuel injection technology. There is also a hybrid variant of the Accord that is designed to maximize fuel economy. An automatic transmission is standard, but you have the option of a six-speed manual transmission with the Sport trim too. Paddle shifters and a 10-speed automatic transmission are available on select models.
Interior and Features
On the inside, the Accord offers a smooth, refined, and comfortable ride. The Accord is equipped with dual zone air conditioning, power-operated windows, and power-operated locking doors at all trim levels. A push-button start makes the Accord easy to drive, and a 12V power outlet allows for instant and convenient device charging. Heated front seats are standard in the Sport trim level and up, while the Touring also adds heated back seats. The EX-L and Touring have leather seats, and the Touring also has ventilated seats. A seven-inch infotainment system is standard on the two lowest trim levels, while a larger eight-inch infotainment display screen comes standard on the rest.
Safety
Honda has a reputation for safety, and the latest Accord shows that the brand still leads the way in safety. An advanced airbag system that includes rollover sensors adds to the Accord's list of passive safety features. Its active safety amenities include driver-assist aids like forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Depending on the trim level you get, these safety features are standard or available.
If you want a safe, reliable, and comfortable car to drive, the Accord should get some serious consideration. The Accord checks all the boxes for passenger comfort and convenience, which has made it consistently one of the most highly-ranked sedans on the road.
