Differences Between 2018 Honda Accord Sport & 2018 Honda Accord Touring

Serving Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, and Florence, KY

The redesigned Honda Accord boasts upgrades to the entire vehicle including the powertrain, suspension, exterior accents, and interior features. What was already a top-quality mid-size sedan is now well ahead of most of the competition. The price is comparable to all other imports in this segment, but the list of standard and optional features is what sets the 2018 Accord apart from the rest of the pack.

Two popular trims are the Sport and Touring. The Sport builds on the base LX, and the Touring throws in everything but the bathroom sink. Buyers will want to explore both versions carefully. Many will be satisfied with what the Sport brings to the table, but if all the bases need to be covered, the Touring will more than satisfy.

Powertrain Choices

The standard engine on all 2018 Honda Accord trims is a direct-injected, turbocharged 1.5L rated at 192 horsepower. Both the Sport and Touring trims match this engine with a continuously variable transmission, and power is sent to the front wheels. Owners can expect about 33 mpg* on the highway. The Sport and Touring trims can be purchased with a more powerful turbocharged 2.0L engine. This one produces a total of 252 horsepower and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the Touring trim, however, the Sport version can be purchased with a manual six-speed transmission regardless of engine choice. Both engines boast rapid response time, and while acceleration is just a bit better than average, drivers will really appreciate the almost unnoticeable fraction of a second in between the push on the gas pedal and the vehicle response.

Exterior/Interior Features

The 2018 Accord Sport trim steps up the game a bit when compared to the base LX version. Buyers get 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, LED foglights, and chrome exhaust tips. On the inside, the upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a combination of cloth and simulated leather upholstery, and eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar adjustment, and a split rear bench seat. Shift paddles are also standard on this trim. If the larger engine is chosen, buyers also get heated front seats and keyless entry. The Touring trim also has 19-inch wheels, and it comes with adaptive suspension dampers. Rear air vents and a sunroof are standard as well. The Touring also features chrome exterior trim, illuminated door handles, and heated rear seats. Some of these features are optional on the lower trims, but there are no package add-ons for the Touring because it comes equipped with all of the package features as standard.

High-Tech Equipment

The Sport trim boasts a rearview camera, push-button ignition, a driver info display, and a 7-inch screen display. Bluetooth is also included. Safety features include lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Smartphone app integration is standard on this and all other Accord trims. The Touring model comes with all of the above-mentioned features and adds on front and rear parking sensors, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a larger screen display. A wireless phone charger is also standard equipment on the Touring trim.

Both of these trims come loaded with features and high-tech goodies, and both are a pleasure to drive. Check out this impressive mid-size model from Honda by contacting Jeff Wyler Honda and scheduling a personal inspection and test drive.
