Performance

The Accord is no longer powered by V6 engines. In their place is a pair of inline 4-cylinder (I4) engines: a 1.5-liter turbo with 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque; and a larger, 2.0-liter turbo with 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The former is the standard engine while the latter is available on the Sport, EX-L, and Touring. True to its designation, the Sport is the only trim with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the others have their engines paired with a continuously variable transmission for a smoother ride. A 10-speed automatic transmission replaces either one if the engine is the 2.0-liter. Unique to the Touring are paddle shifters for more convenient gear shifting on demand.

Interior and Features

A spacious five-seater, the 2018 Honda Accord has a serene cabin due to Active Noise Cancellation™ technology. Other standard comfort and convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth® wireless technology for audio streaming and hands-free phone operation, push-button engine start, hands-free texting ability, four-speaker 160-watt audio, and a 7-inch screen. The Sport is upgraded with 12-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support on the driver’s seat, an eight-speaker 180-watt stereo system (in place of the four-speaker system) an 8-inch color touchscreen (instead of the 7-inch), and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone integration. With the EX trim level, the Accord gets additional front-seat heating ability, remote engine start, HD Radio™, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. The EX-L is upgraded with leather seat trim, 4-way power on the front passenger seat, driver-seat two-position memory, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a garage door opener, HondaLink® remote car access, and a 10-speaker 450-watt stereo system. Exclusive to the Touring are front-seat ventilating ability, rear-seat heating ability, mobile hotspot capability, wireless charging ability, and 8-inch color touchscreen navigation.

Safety

Standard safety features on the 2018 Accord include eight airbags, a multi-angle rearview camera, hill start assist, electronic vehicle stability and traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, and forward collision warning. The EX and higher-level trims also get a blind spot information system with a cross-traffic monitor, with the Touring also receiving a head-up display.
